    Great set of original Department of Defense News Releases issued from 1962-1964 featuring speech transcripts and DOD news regarding the now controversial Secretary of Defense ROBERT S. MCNAMARA. Appointed in 1961, McNamara was considered responsible for the escalation of the Vietnam War and he ultimately resigned in 1968 after realizing his strategy about the war was tragically flawed. All the News Releases are complete and in very good condition. Here is the rundown of each release:
    FEB 17, 1962 – No. 239-62: Complete 13 page transcript of McNamara's speech before the American Bar Association Dinner in Chicago. Speech addresses combating the Soviet Union during the cold war, our nuclear defense, NATO and the beginnings of combating the “Communist Guerilla threat” (as in Vietnam).
    JUNE 16, 1962 – No. 980-62 – Complete 15 page transcript of McNamara's commencement speech at the University of Michigan. Speech addresses the post WWII world, NATO, nuclear war. First page detached.
    NOVEMBER 18, 1963 – No. 1486-63 – Complete 21 page (double sided) transcript of McNamara's speech before the Economic Club of New York addressing the challenges of communism, nuclear war deterrence (Atlas, Titan, Minuteman and Polaris missiles in particular), Strength of the US army vs possible adversaries, communist aggression in Asia, Military status.
    MARCH 26, 1964 – No. 249-64, Complete 13 double sided page transcript of McNamara's speech before the James Forrestal Memorial Award Dinner of the National Security Industrial Association in New York. Speech exclusively addresses the Vietnam War, with McNamara explaining DOD's objectives, review of the current situation, and plans for victory. Fascinating historic document on how the Vietnam war was expected to unfold.
