Description
11" x 17" original jumbo poster for Moore's 1939 season with the Chicago City Opera. Printed on heavy board.Moore was initially hired in 1936 to sing with the Chicago City Opera and could not fulfill her contract due to her film schedule. She made her Chicago debut in 1937, by then she was a true film super-star with 8 films to her credit. She would only make one more in 1939. During the 1939 season, she sung the following roles in Chicago, Louise (Nov. 4 matinee), Mimi (Nov. 8), Manon (Nov. 17), so the dates on the poster were a bit of a stretch. The bulk of her opera appearances that year were with the Metropolitan Opera in the same roles as listed above, plus Thais. She did not sing in San Francisco this season. The bulks of the rest of the year was in Paris where she made the film adaptation of Charpentier's Louise with Georges Thill.
Quite unusual and in superb condition.
