    James E Hopkins16x20Lithograph from original watercolor About the artist:    James E. Hopkins whose art, over the years, has been sold in galleries in Taos, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Amarillo, Sault Ste Marie and San Antonio, was born and spent most of his youth in Amarillo. He has been a part of the world of art for as long as he can remember. Both his parents were artists, His father, Vardie Hopkins was known for his watercolors and his mother loved oil painting. James moved to San Antonio in his early 20’s where he has lived since, with the exception of one year in which he lived in Sault Ste Marie.    James is a well-rounded artist having studied Graphic Arts at San Antonio College and  Fine Arts at University of Texas at San Antonio, where he got to study under Lloyd Walsh. James has also taken various workshops which include watercolor with J. Birdsong, T. Panger, R. Debord, and M. Selfridge, oil workshops with J. Lyles and C. Meadors, and design classes with J. Vance and P. Keithley     Left to his own devices Mr. Hopkins would prefer to paint with his favorite medium, watercolors. However, he also enjoys working with oils paints. James has also become a good layout and design artist. (Art Awards include "Best of Show" and "People's Choice". He also has works in the Navy Archives in Washington D.C.)   James is also a well rounded person having spent time with the U.S. Marines as a Corpsmen (U.S. Naval Reserves) and he served in Desert Storm as a Surgical Technician where he received the U.S. Navy Letter of Commendation and the Meritorious Medal. He has also enjoyed some success as a stage, film and voice-over actor including several years as an improve actor at Sea World and an announcer for the Budweiser Clydesdales. He also can be seen on the YouTube channel, Joe Manly Show, where is is the lead actor, Joe Manly.
