    Description

Up for auction is the one original vintage Change 1 to the U.S. Army Field Manual 21-13 "The Soldier's Guide" dated August 22, 1961, although it might have been printed in 1962 (see bottom of page 3). These inserts were done when a field manual needed something updated but they didn't want to spend the money and paper reprinting the entire book.
This was picked up at an estate auction from someone who appeared to have served with the U.S. Army's 4th Armored Division in Bamberg, Germany, in the mid-1960s. Other auction items included his draft notice from 1963, unit patch and other Army items from 1958 and 1963 (see my other listings). The 4th Armored Division was active from 1941 to 1971, but in 1957 it was deployed to West Germany where it remained until 1971.
