Marian AndersonThe Metropolitan Opera
Vintage Poster
Up for auction is a vintage souvenir promotional press advertising fold-out poster. The poster is folded into eight sections, with each section measuring approximately 9 by 12 inches in size. When fully opened, the poster measures approximately 24 by 36 inches in size. The large poster reprints various newspaper and magazine articles and editorials regarding the Metropolitan Opera House of New York signing Marian Anderson to sing in an opera during their 1954 season - notable because she would be "the first Negro to sing with the company since the theatre was opened in 1883".
The souvenir poster is in good, vintage condition, with no writing on any of the sections (with the exception of a price, in pencil, at the top of one section), and minimal soiling and wear. However, there are a total of four tears along the center fold, most of which are at the intersecting folds. The length of these tears are as follows: 2.5 inches; 1.5 inches; 1 inch, and 0.5 inches long. Please note that the poster was made to be folded, has been stored folded for many years, and will be mailed that way as well.
At this time and over the next few months, I will be selling a number of vintage souvenir program books, as well as other movie and theatre memorabilia, and will combine shipping if at all possible. If this is something that you are interested in, please check out these other listings as well.

Thank you for looking. If you have any questions or would like additional information or pictures, please e-mail me as I would be happy to provide additional details. Please note that all items being sold come from a smoke-free and pet-free home. I am not a professional dealer, and am simply downsizing after years of collecting. I try very hard to accurately list and describe the condition of each item that I sell, and can appreciate the frustration of receiving an item that is not as described. Being human, I will occasionally make a mistake, and may miss a flaw or imperfection that would leave one dissatisfied with their purchase. If this occurs, and you feel that the item you receive is not as described, please contact me immediately. My goal is that each individual who buys from me is happy with their purchase.
