VINTAGE SWISS CARVED LINDEN WOOD 10" DOLL PAIR IN ORIGINAL COSTUMES + TAGS
-this a
uction is for a pair of mint Swiss wooden dolls
-original, exquisitely detailed costumes representing Talais, Switzerland made by the Adolf and Paul Thomann Studio of Brienz, Switzerland
-they are made of 10 wooden pieces joined at the neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees allowing multiple body positions
-on their oval paper wrist tags is written“COMOLLI - LUGANO // Talais // Made In Switzerland” (Lugano is the name of the store that dressed and sold these dolls)
Her dark brown hair is carved into a bun at the back of her head.  His black hair is carved and painted.
She wears a brown taffeta skirt with a white cotton puffy sleeved blouse under a rust felt vest with black trim.  In addition there is a pink edged scarf tied at the neck of the vest.  A moss green and rust colored apron completes her ensemble.  She wears a peach petticoat trimmed with white tulle and pantaloons to match. Her shoes are of “leather” and are worn over knitted white socks.  A straw hat lined with white net and trimmed with black felt and pale blue ribbon adorns her head.
He wears plain black felt pants and a lime green jacket with three buttons, a white cotton collared shirt, and a grey ribbon necktie.  His forrest green felt vest has red felt vertical stripes.  He has a black felt hat, knitted white socks, and black felt shoes.
